Quality improvement of raw materials master data

Your Expert Cluster GmbH was assigned by BAUER Maschinen GmbH, Schrobenhausen, Germany, to improve the master data quality of raw materials. The data were optimized with respect to their data structure and to their attributes as to being up to date, correct, and complete, while also removing duplicates. During the project, specialist knowledge of international materials, products, and standards was shared.

Optimization of the management of corporate standards

Your Expert Cluster developed an optimization concept for managing industry and corporate standards within the CLAAS Group. The project team first performed an as-is analysis at several European manufacturing sites and then used a detailed SWOT process to derive measures for improving the management of standards. Core results were the organization of a central administration unit along business needs and the integration of its services into the various manufacturing sites.

Expert support in technical matters

The Your Expert Cluster project team provided support to CLAAS on a number of different technical challenges resulting from changes in industry regulations. This included adopting rules that prohibit the use of chromium (VI) in surface treatment; revision of corporate standards by incorporating the current nomenclature of materials; and specific aspects of managing the use of technical drawings. All projects required detailed knowledge of the relevant national and international standards and their application.

Project leadership of the renewal of automation and safety systems in a power plant, project coordination of a steam turbine overhaul

Your Expert Cluster managed a project to renew the control system of a power plant on behalf of a partner company. Project goals were the modernization of the automation system and field instrumentation, implementation and integration of safety concepts, and the increase of plant availability. The project tasks included time and budget management, organization of a cross-functional project team (various client departments, external suppliers), the introduction of agile project methods, and the handling of individual work assignments. The project was completed after 4 years, on time and within budget. As a result, plant control and safety were improved, security of supply of utilities to the site increased, and fuel consumption was reduced.

Development of a master data concept as part of an SAP implementation

enowa AG was assigned by an international manufacturer of specialty chemicals to manage an SAP harmonization project. Within the scope of this project, Your Expert Cluster teamed with enowa and the client to develop a master data concept for the entire company. First, the use of master data in all corporate processes, clients/vendors, and materials was analyzed and documented. Then, a concept for the unified use and classification of these data was developed, and the target design for their implementation was described in detail in an SAP Blueprint document.

Rule-based definition of univocal SAP idents on the basis of functional descriptions

Your Expert Cluster joined a project to revise the nomenclature and functional description of wood-processing machinery. Our specific task was to derive rules for the univocal and reproducible definition of SAP idents, both for technical classification and for individual attributes. On the basis of expert knowledge about classification and reference identification, the expert team initially structured the available master data and then used a modular VBA application to generate univocal SAP idents from the short text description of functions and attributes.
